Singing the Music You Love, live!
The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus is New Mexico's premier adult chorus. Our 2018-19 season will honor the 100th birthday of American musical treasure Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990). This season will include three great concerts, plus we will sing Verdi's Requiem in the New Mexico Philharmonic's classics series concert on March 23, 2019.
“All is Calm, All is Bright” concert on dec. 9 Greets the holidays
Celebrate the spirit of the holidays at our Dec. 9 concert with the lovely sounds of composer Heinz Zimmermann’s Psalmkonzert, composed in 1957, and Franz Grüber’s beloved Silent Night, first performed in the village of Oberndorf, Austria in 1818 with lyrics by Joseph Mohr and the 1981 arrangement by John Rutter. Closing out the concert is Leonard Bernstein’s affirming Chichester Psalms, composed in 1965 to depict his hope for peace and brotherhood in the world. Joining the Chorus in this festive concert at Albuquerque’s First United Methodist Church will be the New Mexico Philharmonic and the New Mexico Symphonic Youth Chorus.
